There are so many fun things for families to do in Lancaster County, PA.  Fall might be our favorite time of year to hit the road and get outside to find some great activities to do with the kids. It’s not too hot, not too cold, and fall food and activities are just the best!  The Country Barn Market & Barnyard Kingdom in Lancaster PA is a perfect place to spend a fall day with your family.  We visited with our two kids last weekend and enjoyed every minute of it!

Barnyard Kingdom is part of the Country Barn.  At the Country Barn you can learn to line dance, shop at the market, or even host your wedding!  The Barnyard Kingdom piece of the property is designs for some serious fun for kids and families.  We arrived a little late on the scene the day we got there and didn’t have a ton of time to enjoy all of the activities.  Had we gotten there sooner we’d have spent some more time with the live animals, pedal carts, and play areas.  Our mission for the day was to get a couple of pumpkins for our porch and we were definitely able to do that.  Plus it was FUN, way more fun than just picking them up at the local store. My kids picked their pumpkins right out of the patch themselves!

This is the cool tractor ride we all hopped on to take us out to the pumpkin patch.  It’s a really beautiful ride if a little bumpy.  All part of the experience!

What a gorgeous view on the farm!

We rode past some of the sheep on our way and the driver let a couple of the kids throw a few pumpkins over the side of the wagon to smash them for the sheep to eat. Who knew sheep ate pumpkins?!

We arrived at the pumpkin patch and got off the wagon to hunt down the perfect pumpkin.  There were tons to choose from which was great. I didn’t know how picked over they’d be but we had no trouble finding a lot of great pumpkins and they’re really reasonably priced, too.  The ones we got were maybe $5 or so each and they’re a decent size.

There’s my girl with her prized pumpkin!  She found a good one and pulled it right off the vine herself!

Strong boy, right?  He didn’t last too long with that big pumpkin in his arms but we got the money shot.

When we got back to the barn and off the wagon we walked through the area where all the gourds and other pumpkins are kept.  So you don’t actually have to take the wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin but it’s definitely the fun way to do it!

They have a lot of varieties of pumpkins including these cool greenish ones.  Reminds me of Cinderella!

After you pass through the pumpkin area you come into the Country Barn Market to pay for your goodies.  And that also where you find more goodies you’re going to want.  Look at that beautiful produce!  YUM!

There are plenty of seasonal sweets, too.  We ended up leaving with our two pumpkins, a half gallon of apple cider, and a bunch of iced pumpkin cookies.  They were delicious and gone in no time flat!
