Carnival Magic

We are on our way, sailing the seas on the Carnival Magic. Today has been a whirlwind. Tim and I now have very full bellies and are settling in for the evening. A great time to reflect on the day’s events.

A little after noon today we started the boarding process. Everything was very smooth and easy. We flowed right through checkin, got on the ship and found our room. Tim and I have never been on a cruise nor have seen a cruise ship in person so taking in the grandeur of the ship was pretty awesome.

The Carnival Magic is AMAZING and HUGE! I’m not going to lie, we spent the first part of the day a bit overwhelmed and unsure of what we’re supposed to be doing, where we’re supposed to be going, etc. There’s just so much going on and with the ship being so large, it takes a bit to familiarize yourself. I think the best way to get over that is just to ask questions and explore.

One thing to keep in mind is that the elevators are always going to be busy during check in and during events. That’s just a given. After the business of boarding was through, hitching an elevator was a lot easier and so was finding our way around. We did ask some fellow cruisers for directions. They were frequent cruisers and gave us some help finding our way. I think most people are happy to help first time cruisers out. Plus the staff is amazing and are always available for questions.

We took some time just relaxing in our room and getting settled. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting on the balcony of our stateroom. Its so peaceful watching the waves as the ship heads to our first port.

We’ve heard from several friends about the amazing food and everything they said was true. The food is amazing and the service is wonderful. This afternoon we had a great buffet style lunch. There was so much to choose from. I tried to take just a little bit of a lot of things so that I could sample it all.

Tonight’s dinner was casual sit down dining. We felt pretty special getting to sit at a table for two. It’s a very romantic way to spend our dinners together.

We got to meet our hosts and servers for the week. They are all amazing. Our main host is Nego. He is wonderful, very accommodating and has a great personality. The maitre d, Elvis, came over and introduced himself. Such a nice touch. We felt so welcomed and everyone is making our experience the best!

We are looking forward to the rest of our trip. Stay tuned for more but in the meantime, here’s pictures from our first day:
