Disclosure: I was provided the use of the KIA Sorento for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.
Last time we vacationed in Florida, we drove down so we had our own vehicle for transportation between the parks, driving to Daytona Beach, etc. This trip we got a really great deal on airline tickets so we needed to find transportation while down there for the week.
I talked with the folks at KIA and they set us up with an amazing vehicle to review for the week. With a family of 6, a car wasn’t going to fit us all. When arranging the details, I just requested anything that would fit the 6 of us plus our luggage.
The KIA Sorento was perfect! With seating for 7, there was room for the whole family plus 2 giant suitcases and all of our backpacks and bags that we had for carry ons. There wasn’t a lot of room in the back when you have the 3rd row seats up but what we did was lay down one of the 3rd row split seats and that’s where we put the luggage. It worked out great.
I drive around a mini-van so having this KIA Sorento for the week was so awesome! It came fully decked out with the latest and the greatest..including push button start with smart key. I have never driven a vehicle that didn’t require a key in the ignition. The staff in the parking garage were probably thinking I was completely clueless because I couldn’t figure out how to start the car. 😉 I figured it out in no time though and the more I drove it, the more I LOVED the smart key. I just kept it in my purse and had easy entry into the car as well as easy start. Such an awesome feature. Especially because it seems us moms always have our hands full and grabbing our keys (let alone finding them) to unlock the doors can be tricky.
The kids loved the panoramic sunroof! We took advantage of that often being down in sunny Florida for the week. In fact, I’d very willingly head off to the store for coffee or extra groceries just so I could drive the Sorento. My son Caleb and I would take a little drive with the sunroof open, windows down and radio up.
The radio was my husband’s favorite feature. It came equipped with the Infinity Surround Sound Audio System and SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Coming from an area that doesn’t have a lot of great rock station options, it was great to have the SIRIUS and have a ton of rock songs/channels and categories to choose from. Of course when it was just the kids and me in the vehicle, we had it on pop or country. 😉
I also loved the navigation system. Navigation with SIRRIUS Traffic came in the premium package 3. It was so great being able to type in our destination and not worry about a map or printing off directions. We traveled all over the place and ‘Lola,’ as we nicknamed her, gave us turn by turn directions.
KIA Sorento Premium Package
This Kia Sorento also came equipped with the premium package 3 which includes:
- First Aid Kit
- Navigation with SIRIUS Traffic
- Air cooled driver’s seat
- Memory driver’s seat and mirror positions
- Heated steering wheel
- and more
The Sorento also has great fuel economy for a 7 passenger vehicle…much better than my mini van and is very reasonably priced. We’re definitely going to miss this vehicle. In fact, getting back into our mini van for the trip home was a bit depressing after having the Sorento all week.

I can definitely see us choosing the Sorento for our next vehicle. I’m ready to trade in the mini van!
