Gaylord Palms Ice Show featuring Frosty!
I love the holidays and I knew that Gaylord Palms would have spectacular decorations so I couldn’t wait to go. I have lived in Florida for over 10 years now and have always wanted to go and see the yearly Gaylord Palms Ice Show. For some reason or another, we just never got there. Finally though this year, we got to go thanks to Destinations in Florida for inviting me. This years theme is Frosty the Snowman and it’s one of my favorite holiday shows.
The Gaylord Palms ICE show didn’t officially open until Nov. 23rd but we got a sneak preview. We even got to see some of the artisans putting the finishing touches on some of the ice sculptures.

NEW in 2013, you’ll enjoy a bonus area featuring “Artisans in Action” – a LIVE ice carving zone! Take a fun journey through the Frostbite Factory and watch a masterful ice carver from Harbin, China up close as he creates amazing sculptures before your eyes. Your awe-inspiring experience concludes with the wonder and majesty of the Nativity scene in ice. It’s all part of Christmas at Gaylord Palms!

Gaylord Palms ICE Show featuring Frosty! Overall:
Once we arrived, we were invited into the Gaylord Palms atrium for the musical portion of the show. It was amazing with singers, music, musical light show and aerial act. It lasted approximately 30 – 45 minutes and was very beautiful and put you in the holiday spirit.
After that, we headed over to see the Frosty and the rest of the Ice Sculptures. They gave us heavy, long coats with a hood to put on. I was a little prepared, because I did bring my gloves I had hiding at the back of the closet.
I knew it was going to be cold, so I wore the warmest thing I had, which is cropped pants. I still wore my flip flops, because that’s what I always wear. I wore them at the Grand Canyon when it was 19 degrees and was just fine. However, upon entering, I was informed that it was 9 degrees….yes, not a typo…9 degrees and within a matter of 10 minutes, my toes would get frostbite. I thought…great. How long does it take to go through? Depends on how long you stop to check it out.
So, we had to basically run through. We got to see everything and I did get to snap pictures. I didn’t really get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked to though. Another thing I didn’t know about was about half way through, my iPhone decided to shut off. The cold got to it. My camera did fine and I did have backup batteries for that. Once we got out, the camera lens fogged up, and the phone turned back on once it warmed up.
