Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Bourbon: smooth and oaky going down with just the right amount of bite. There is something about a nice rocks glass full of bourbon over ice. It just hits all the right spots when you drink it. Nothing relaxes better and sets the mood for socializing.

If you are a bourbon connoisseur, there is one place you need to visit and that is the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Some of the best brands of bourbon, names like Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey, Woodford Reserve, Evan Williams, and Heaven Hill distilleries all share in their part of making the Kentucky Bourbon Trail a “must see.“ As you start down the bourbon trail’s scenic beauty, you are greeted by exciting and breathtaking views along the meandering roads that lead from distillery to distillery. We put our top down on the convertible and cruised in the mild late summer air.

There are interesting differences in the tours at the various facilities, but one theme is common. It amazed me at the craftsmanship, patience, and art mixed with the science behind every bottle of bourbon.  The attention it takes to select only the right type of rare oak woods from all over the world (each distillery has their own type preference). The artistry it takes to char each barrel on the inside to the precise amount of charring. The patience the craftsmen have waiting for years for the bourbon to age in the barrels. It was a true education for me. There are also some really fun activities for the adults such as TASTING and also creating one of a kind souvenir bottles.

Make sure to get your free souvenir passport at your first distillery stop. Collect stamps from all seven distilleries, and when you complete all the stops on the passport, you will recieve a special gift. So don’t waste time. Get on the road this summer and see the bourbon trail. Be ready for an educational and enjoyable experience.  You will savor every minute of the experience!
