Rattlesnake Museum in New Mexico

Okay, let me start off by saying that I hate snakes. But we visited the Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico because we thought it would be interesting.  And it was for sure! I have had 3 baby snakes in the swimming pool with me at different times, and let me tell you, you CANNOT get out of the water fast enough!

I never knew that there were so many different types of Rattlesnakes.  Big ones, little ones, fat ones, striped ones and even albino ones.  I also didn’t think that there was going to be live rattlesnakes there.  I thought they would be dead or stuffed or something.  I wouldn’t want to be the one having to clean those cages, that’s for sure.

It’s amazing how many different colors of rattlesnakes there are.  To me, a snake is a snake.  I don’t care if it’s not a rattlesnake or even a garter snake.  I don’t like them and don’t want them near me.

The Rattlesnake Museum has all sorts of snakes in different sizes and most of them will blend right in with rocks or landscaping and can be deadly.

Some of the snakes blend right in with the landscape.  I’m sure in New Mexico, that they are everywhere.  We do have some in Florida but not too many.  Our builders found one when they were building in the next development from ours and had it stuffed and sitting on his desk.  There was also a girl who got bit in our city while walking through a field.  She thought is was a stick and stepped on it, only to find out it was a rattlesnake.  EEEK!

We spent a couple of hours there just checking out all the snakes.  It was pretty interesting.  I tried taking close of pictures of their faces, but they didn’t all come out.  You can’t use a flash and you definitely don’t want to tap on the glass and scare them.

You can visit the Rattlesnake Museum which is located at 202 San Felipe NW, Suite A, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  It is located in Historic Old Town, which we also visited.
