Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Back in November, my family and I headed to the Smoky Mountains for our annual fall trip. While there we visited several of the Ripley’s attractions including the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium.

Ripleys Believe It Or Not

If you are a fan of all things odd and unique, this is a museum you won’t want to miss. They have many displays that feature people and artifacts that will blow your mind, from people that have had cosmetic surgery to alter their appearance, to people who were born with two pupils in each eye!

There are artifacts from history like this chastity belt that was said to be worn by women when their husband left home, to protect them. However, if the woman was caught in an act of adultery, the belt was used as a torture device. I’m glad that artifact remained in history!

There are several things to see inside the museum. It took us about an hour and half – 2 hours to go through it all. There are puzzles, games and photo opps throughout and we did stop several times to let the kids enjoy those. One of the simpler ones was this eye puzzler. Are the lines crooked or are they straight?

You decide!

I was worried that some of  the displays might bother my younger kids. There are two headed goats, mummies and photos of people with swords down their throats as well as people who have had major cosmetic surgery to change their appearance, giving them fangs or horns. If you have really young children, you might want to think about some of the displays before taking them in. My kids did ok but I did steer them away from some of the displays that I knew would bother them to look at.

Overall, we really enjoyed Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. There are some really fun exhibits inside that will trick your mind and leave you guessing.

I have a full post with a few more photos, over on my blog at Cinnamon Hollow if you like to check it out.
