Disclosure: I received a free night and tickets to Hersheypark; however, all opinions are my own and those of my family.
Roller Coasters at Hersheypark

Recently, my family and I were treated to a visit to Hershey Lodge and Hersheypark.  In case you don’t know, Hersheypark is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  Honestly, we hadn’t heard much about Hershey before moving to Pennsylvania, and now, we know what we were missing!

When we arrived, we drove right to the Hershey Lodge to check in.  It was early in the morning, so we knew our room wouldn’t be ready, yet.  We did want to get checked in and store our luggage at the hotel, rather than leaving it in the hot car.  After we checked in, we took the resort shuttle over the Hersheypark.

Guests of the hotels and campground affiliated with Hersheypark are allowed into select areas of the park an hour early on select dates.  This was one of those days.  We headed in and toward the first aid station where I was to meet my contact to learn more about Hersheypark’s accessibility program and how it works for children on the Autism Spectrum.  I have to say that I am really impressed!  You can read my thoughts on their accessibility program here.  Then, it was time to head out into the park!

Let’s start with the Roller Coasters at Hersheypark!

Roller Coasters at HersheyparkThere was a time that I could probably all the roller coasters at Hersheypark, but since my kids were born, my equilibrium has changed.  I looked at all these coasters and dreamed of riding them, but I did ride the coaster in the upper left corner of the picture (Trailblazer).  My son LOVED this roller coasters, and we must have ridden it five or six times!  We rode a few other rides (Tilt-a-Whirl and Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge were favorites) and walked around to look at other areas of the park, like the Boardwalk.  We’ve decided that we will need to go back next year to spend some time in the water at the Boardwalk.

Hershey Lodge Room

After a few hours in the heat, we headed over to the Hershey Lodge to get our room.  I had received a call earlier to let me know that our room was ready.  After letting the kids do their sign in in the lobby and gathering our luggage, we headed up to our room.  The room was a good size, and the beds were comfortable.  The bathroom wasn’t overly large, but it’s not like we spent a lot of time there.  The desk had plenty of outlets, too.  That’s a very important thing for me!

Hershey Lodge Gift Shop

After settling in, we headed down to look at the gift shop.  Are you a chocolate fan?  I know I am!  There are so many chocolates you can choose from to make your own souvenir to take home.  I didn’t think the prices were too bad, considering that it is located IN Hershey Lodge.  Did you know that all the Hershey Kisses produced other than the Macadamia nut Kisses are made in Hershey, PA?

There are a few restaurants at Hershey Lodge, and we decided to head over to one of them, The Bear’s Den, for supper before returning to the park.  This restaurant attempts to make it look like guests are in a hockey arena.  The food is good and reasonably priced.

Hershey Bar or Hershey Kiss

Another neat thing about Hershey is that there are Hershey characters out to great with guests.  My son loved this and had his picture taken with them quite a few times.  We also saw, Reese Peanut Butter Cups, KitKat, and York Peppermint Patties.

Roller Coasters Everywhere

After supper and meeting a few characters, we headed back into Hersheypark where I finally got to ride the Kissing Tower.  My husband and the kids had been on it before, but I hadn’t.  The view was amazing, and I loved being able to see all the different roller coasters from the air!

We rode several more rides, had some ice cream, and looked around in the shops.  We didn’t leave until about 9:30 pm, but we had such a great day!  We climbed aboard the shuttle and enjoyed not having to drive back to a hotel through the traffic.  What a great perk!

Hershey Lodge End of the Day

When we headed to the elevator to get to our room, we saw this sign.  What a great way to remind families to be quiet and not disturb other guests who may be sleeping!  Hersheypark and Hershey Lodge have so many great touches!

Chocolate Ok for Breakfast

When we got up in the morning, we had to pack up and say goodbye to the Hershey Lodge.  We ended our stay with breakfast.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to take advantage of the opportunity to have chocolate for breakfast?

If you are looking for a great vacation destination, check out Hershey, PA!  Hersheypark also has special events for Halloween and Christmas.

Disclosure:  I received lodging and tickets for Hersheypark and Hershey Lodge.  I was not required to give a positive review, but we had such a great time that I wanted to share with you!
